So much internet chatter on what she "should have done." I was struggling with my own reaction to all the armchair experts, and this nailed it. Thanks.

Yes. I struggled, too. I appreciate the perspective here - definitely gave me an opportunity to view it from a different lens. Initially, I felt guarded for my children - playing through injury isn't something we encourage, but also this is a different scenario. Thanks to everyone for challenging my thinking. For Lindsey it was a 'safe to fail' situation.

Maybe, but still really risky. That’s what I was trying to communicate in my piece. There’s a lot of nuance here but ultimately it was up to Vonn and she made the best decision for her in the moment. Thank goodness she’s okay. And she can go out knowing she gave it her all.

And…to an earlier point: it’s her story. 🙏🏻

Lindsey earned her spot. She put it all in the line because that us who she is. Most people don't know what that is.

Brad: Thank you for being you, with your knowledge, insights and wisdom, AND THANK YOU LINDSEY VONN FOR GIVING IT (AND US) YOUR ALL.

I admire her bravery, even though I think every skier has a hard time comprehending skiing so quickly after her initial injury.

This has me thinking of the phrase “built different.” I can’t fathom the physical and mental discipline, courage and grit it takes to compete at that level with any injury let alone a torn ACL. Her practice run was incredible. Her whole story this Olympic run is a testament to the human spirit.

This is so good. Was talking to my college athlete son who is currently playing through an injury that sometimes the right choice is to just go full send. Hats off to Vonn. Talk about a blaze of glory.

Exactly. And the biggest point being it's her choice to make!

YES! Imagine the type of person telling her to sit down. Hell no. She was acutely aware of the risk and it was hers to take. That takes massive guts.

Awesome piece. I agree completely, it was her spot that she earned. This was entirely her decision to make and she made it. I respect these athletes and leaders in the world that are going for excellence and inspiring us all. I aim to be an excellent writer, and I'm going to check out your book now :)

Thanks Garrett. Definitely get the book. I gave it my all. Please come back and let me know what you think of it!

Brad - have you heard of the book Happiness in Action? As an avid follower of yours it has made me think you would enjoy it. I am only halfway through but it speaks to many of the same principles that you touch on.

As far as Lindsey Vonn - she earned the choice and good for her for writing her own story.
