I'm ~99% nonchalant / ~1% caring. But I ignore everything in the first category and could fill ten lifetimes with the second. I am excited to be where I am. By definition. If I wasn't, I'd leave and go do the exciting thing. A mantra I tell myself when it gets hard/scary/painful "I chose to be here" which is always literally true and encourages me in MMA/running/climbing/lifting. Also competitively, you can sometimes see when someone doesn't really want to be there anymore. They don't care if they lose and just want to go home. That's when "I chose to be here" gets predatory: they want to tap/coast/relent and you're there to assist.

Charlie Garcia posted his entire address to Dartmouth, given to the class of 2024. Worth a watch...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqWUuYTcG-o
