Excellent example of fortitude in a clutch. Persistence pays off.

Brad, I don’t think you are a cycling fan, but if there was ever an athlete I think you’d admire it is Wout van Aert and his win today made grown men cry tears of joy all over the world. If you've got the time Caley over at Escape Collective summed up his thoughts quite well: https://escapecollective.com/the-tides-of-wout/?gift-token=Yuf6NhRK

Hello Brad, I looked at your work and love the lessons you give for dads. I wanted to see if you’d be interested in connecting. I write to encourage dads and families by using object lessons (much like you do). Howellbigham.substack.com

Great read and this is a big component of the Operator Mindset I have developed and it ties into two of the five traits. Responsible for your controllables and stable under pressure. And I think they tie nicely into one another. So much in sports and life are unpredictable, when the only truly stable thing to rely on is ourselves. Our standards, our process, our abilities, our trust in our work. Obviously that stability comes from showing up for yourself and keeping your standards no matter what, through repetition and work. But once we build that inner stability and trust, I believe we can sort of quiet these "pressure" moments. Not minimizing what they mean and how they feel, but taking the label off of them that our brains have put on each and every action. Being rooted in our process, shrinking our thinking into one action of execution at a time and compounding these little moments of focus and execution. One shot at a time. And I think Rory showed this well by not letting the external circumstances creep their way into his game in the end. The pressure will always be there and will expose your mental work. But Rory showed elite mentality.

Resonates deeply with me, Brad. Specifically with running and race time goals. Love this, and please keep on sharing!

Good read. The part that stood out watching live was how quickly he reset after the Saturday round. Most guys carry that into Sunday morning and you see it in their first three approach shots. He didn’t. Whatever he’s doing between rounds is doing a lot of work.
