That George Leonard quote got me, nice one! I feel like I’m building a tiny home on the plateau where I’m at currently… but I know the wreckin ball’s a-comin!
“For us, lifting weights becomes a transformative practice to be undertaken primarily for its own sake, the byproduct of which is a nourishing effect on the soul.”
Really well put. As someone in his late 20s who is entering a busy period in his professional life, lifting has become a necessary “practice” that nourishes me. It’s not an activity I do primarily for my health.
Hi Brad! I love this. I experience something similar when I lift. I feel fully in the moment. I’ve learned that if I’m not in that place, I lose form and get injured. I love hearing about people who have turned regular activities in their lives into practices.
Loved this post, thank you!
